What is a Career Change Dog? Our professional trainers carefully select our dogs by evaluating them for temperament, health and eagerness to please. They are rescued from shelters where they are at risk for euthanasia. They enter a rigorous training program to become Hearing Dogs for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Not all of our outstanding dogs can meet the demands of becoming a Certified Assistance Dog, thus the need for a "Career Change". They are, however, still winners, and make wonderful pets. Many are already housebroken and some know basic obedience commands. In short, these "near misses" make wonderful companions. We can help match you with a lifelong canine companion.

Vince

Posted on 6/1/2022

Vince is a poodle mix.  We don't know what the mix is.  He is weighs about 12 pounds.  He is very sweet and loves people and kids.  He takes a minute to warm up to men, but he does fairly quickly.  He will bark at strangers like most poodles do.  But once he meets them he's fine.  He enjoys playing with kids, but he also really likes to play with other dogs.  He likes to play a lot, so if he is adopted by someone with another dog, that someone's dog needs to really, really want to play.

Vince's coat had been neglected when we adopted him so he has not been taught how to properly behave while being groomed.  He will need a patient and professional groomer for a while.  He is in good health and is housebroken.   He does not like being home alone so we are looking for a home where he will have a human around most of the time.

We adopt our dogs to people who live within a radius approximately 50 miles from our facility in Malibu.  Interested potential adopters can fill our our online application at this website.  www.samsimonfoundation.  We will contact those that we feel might be compatible and invite you to come here to meet Vince.  If it feels like a good match then we will ask you to think it over for 24 hours.  After that if it is still a good match, we will deliver him and do the final home and yard check then.
