What is a Career Change Dog?
Our professional trainers carefully select our dogs by evaluating them for temperament, health and eagerness to please. They are rescued from shelters where they are at risk for euthanasia. They enter a rigorous training program to become Hearing Dogs for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Not all of our outstanding dogs can meet the demands of becoming a Certified Assistance Dog, thus the need for a "Career Change". They are, however, still winners, and make wonderful pets. Many are already housebroken and some know basic obedience commands. In short, these "near misses" make wonderful companions. We can help match you with a lifelong canine companion.

JuJu Jax

JuJu Jax is a 13 pound - ish 5-ish year old, black and white curly haired mixed breed dog. We think he is Poodle and Shih Tzu, but we’re not sure. That unknown means we cannot consider him 'hypoallergenic'. He is a rather laid back sweet dog. We think he had been pampered in the past but somehow he lost his pamperer and is looking for a new one.
JuJu is living with other dogs now, however because he wants all of the attention and because he takes exception to being stepped on, he snaps at them sometimes. And he snaps hard. Therefore, we don’t recommend adopting him to a home with another dog. It wouldn’t be fair to the other dog plus JuJu wants to be the only sun and moon for his peeps.
He is definitely not housebroken but we think with supervision he could be. However he has proven to be a challenge in that regard so we won't be placing him into a home that is rented. He also barks when left home alone and that could be a nuisance for neighbors that are near.
He walks nicely on leash but sometimes just stops walking and needs to be carried. He loves to be carried and held so that part is easy (he weighs 13 pounds).
He definitely does not like to be alone. He will cry and sometimes even gets an upset stomach because of it. We’re looking for a home with homebody that wants a lap dog.
