What is a Career Change Dog? Our professional trainers carefully select our dogs by evaluating them for temperament, health and eagerness to please. They are rescued from shelters where they are at risk for euthanasia. They enter a rigorous training program to become Hearing Dogs for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Not all of our outstanding dogs can meet the demands of becoming a Certified Assistance Dog, thus the need for a "Career Change". They are, however, still winners, and make wonderful pets. Many are already housebroken and some know basic obedience commands. In short, these "near misses" make wonderful companions. We can help match you with a lifelong canine companion.

JuJu Jax

Posted on 2/2/2021

Jax is a small 4 ish year old, black and white curly haired mixed breed dog.  We think he is Poodle and Shih Tzu, but we’re not sure.

He is a rather laid back sweet dog.  We think he had been pampered in the past but somehow he lost his pamperer and is looking for a new one.

Jax is living with other dogs but he has been in a few fights.  He is the one that starts them.  Usually because he wants all of the attention or because they accidentally stepped on him.  We don’t recommend adopting him to a home with another dog for that reason.  It wouldn’t be fair to the other dog plus Jax wants to be the only sun and moon for his peeps.

He appears to be healthy.  He is definitely not housebroken but we think with supervision he could be.  He walks nicely on leash but he will bark intensely at other dogs that we pass.  He also sometimes just stops walking and needs to be carried.  He loves to be carried and held so that part is easy.

He definitely does not like to be alone.  He will cry and sometimes even gets an upset stomach because of it.  We’re looking for a home with homebody that wants a lap dog.

Please note that we only adopt our Career Change Dogs to homes within approximately 50 miles from our location in Malibu, CA.  If you are interest in adopting Jax, please fill out our online application found under 'Dogs for Adoption' at www.samsimonfoundation.com  Someone will contact you to arrange a meet and greet IF we think heis a good match with your application.
