Our professional trainers carefully select our dogs
by evaluating them for temperament, health and
eagerness to please. They are rescued from shelters
where they are at risk for euthanasia. They enter a
rigorous training program to become Hearing Dogs for
people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Not all of our outstanding dogs can meet the demands
of becoming a Certified Assistance Dog, thus the
need for a "Career Change". They are, however, still
winners, and make wonderful pets. Many are already
housebroken and some know basic obedience commands.
In short, these "near misses" make wonderful
companions. We can help match you with a lifelong

Pee Wee is sweet and affectionate with people he knows. He has very good house manners but would prefer a quiet adult only home without other pets.
Maribelle is an 8 month old Bassett/Beagle X. She was an owner surrender to the shelter because of isolation barking. Since she has been in our care, this has become less frequent (although still occurs)and she has become much more relaxed and comfortable with confinement. Currently she goes to her “playpen” at meal times, naps and bedtime; otherwise, she has freedom in the house.
Maribelle does have many allergies and can only be in grasses for limited periods of time. While she definitely needs dog siblings in her life, she has to be careful not to get too playful as she has knee that could require surgery as she enters adulthood. She is a friendly and confident pup that will do well with training classes. She enjoys kids but can be very mouthy and so would prefer an adult only or with teenage kids home. She also needs to be with someone who has plenty of time to give her and has experience with Bassett Hounds.
Simba is a 1 ½ year old neutered male 80 lb.Labrador Retriever. He is a sweet boy that was surrendered with a female lab to the shelter because the family did not have time for either dog. He is housebroken and super friendly. He does seem to have been treated with a heavy hand from a “male figure” and will behave by cowering/retreating, if he believes he will be hit with something. That is a behavior that can be unlearned but will take some time and a loving owner. Simba is a loyal dog and will make someone a wonderful companion.
Pippin is a 10 month old, 9 lb Toy Poodle Mix. We think he might have some Papillon in him. He is cute as can be and just as sweet. He is housebroken, although you will want to keep plenty of chew toys around for him. He's energetic, but not more than you'd expect for his age. He likes other dogs and would do well with a playmate. He was not socialized as a puppy, but is learning to enjoy hugs and kisses and walks on the beach. Because of his young age, we will need a home where someone is around most of the time.
Nala is a 2 year old, female Black Lab. She and her brother, Simba, were taken to the shelter because their family did not have time for them. Nala is a really sweet girl and wants nothing more than to be near people. She gets along great with other dogs, but her first love is human. She would prefer a home where she can live indoors with a family that is home a lot. She is gaining confidence in the world and further socialization would be really good for her.
