What is a Career Change Dog? Our professional trainers carefully select our dogs by evaluating them for temperament, health and eagerness to please. They are rescued from shelters where they are at risk for euthanasia. They enter a rigorous training program to become Hearing Dogs for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Not all of our outstanding dogs can meet the demands of becoming a Certified Assistance Dog, thus the need for a "Career Change". They are, however, still winners, and make wonderful pets. Many are already housebroken and some know basic obedience commands. In short, these "near misses" make wonderful companions. We can help match you with a lifelong canine companion.

Amadeus (Dae)

Posted on 7/3/2019

Amadeus is an 8 lb.,  white Toy Poodle appoximately 1 year old.  He might be mixed with Maltese.  He's sweet and playful and can be active at times but settles nicely in the house.  He has shown some aggression towards our veterinarian and occasionally he guards his belongings.  He will need an adult only home for that reason.  He also has separation anxiety.  He will bark and fuss for long periods of time.

We will be looking for an adopter who is home most of the time.  We are still working on his housebreaking skills, but with proper supervision and training we expect that to be fine.  Amadeus (Dae) is a smart little dog who loves to play and snuggle.  If you live withing 50 miles of our location in Malibu, CA, please fill out our online applicaton found under 'Dogs for Adoption' at www.samsimonfoundation.com.  Applicants that we feel will be compatible will be invited out here to meet him.
